My Fabulous Five

I’m lucky and fortunate in so many ways.  One of the aspects of my life where I consider myself blessed…is that I’m surrounded by great people.  I have a core group of friends who I would trust with my life…and talk to them on the phone several times a week.  The phone…yes.  I’m lucky that these people are only a phone call away.  In person…while I am a news reporter and am around people all the time…I don’t get to interact with friends in person as much as I’d like.  My person to person interaction (on a daily basis) consists of five souls.  I say “souls”…because one is a bird.

1.  Brendan: I have THE BEST boyfriend in the world.  Brendan is amazing in every way.  To be honest, I don’t know what I’d do without him.  I cherish every minute I spend with him…it sounds cheesey, yes, but that’s the way it is.  He’s my person.

2.  Leslie:  Leslie is Brendan’s live in resident.  That sounds really impersonal though…Leslie has become family to me.  He doesn’t talk with words…but we have conversations.  He’s become a big part of my life and I’m glad he’s part of my five.

3.  Tom:  The person I spend the most time with…my photographer.  I’m surprised he hasn’t gotten sick of me at this point.  We spend 45-50 hours a week together, most of that time is in a car.  He’s part of “Team CPAN”.

4.  Kristina:  The other part of “Team CPAN”, Kristina and I spend a lot of time together at the office.  I really don’t know what I’d do without her or Tom.  They make my work days so much more enjoyable.  Kristina has a positive view on life that is unlike anyone else I interact with.  It’s refreshing.

5. Cinnamon:  The only non-human on this list.  My cockatiel.  The time I am not spending with the other four people on this list…is spent with Cinnamon.  He’s small but fierce…and the best listener I’ve ever met.  He’s also a talker…so it’s not like I’m talking to myself.  Best. Pet. Ever.

Don’t get me wrong.  I have friends out here in Lewisburg…WONDERFUL friends.  I just don’t see them as much as I’d like.

Bringing Back the Blog

Well well well…to say it’s been a while would be an understatement. It’s been over four years! I’m surprised this little piece of literature still exists. I’ve decided to do what the title says…BRING BACK THE BLOG. No, no one asked me to. A lot happens to me over the course of a week, day, work day…and sometimes there are things I wish I would have written down. I’ll make sure to bring you up to speed on everything Nikki Krize over the next few days…and then I will write write write! Hopefully you’ll all hold me to it!

GO JOE 16

I haven’t posted on here in so long and I NEED to get better with this!  I’m really excited because tomorrow I’m a guest rider for “Go Joe 16”.  For those of you who don’t know what that is…it’s a charity bike ride our morning meteorologist Joe Snedeker does every year to benefit St. Joseph’s Center in Scranton.  It’s a really great cause and I’m excited to be part of it.

BUT…I’m nervous!  I started riding about two weeks ago, and I actually did nine miles the other day which I’m pretty proud of.  I’m riding from Mifflinburg to Lewisburg and then South Williamsport to Williamsport.  So if you’re in Williamsport around lunchtime please stop out and support Go Joe 16!  I’ll update after the ride 🙂

It’s Been A While…

I just realized how long it’s been since I have blogged. I really need to get better with this!

So far it’s been a lazy Sunday until I have to go to work at 3…tennis is on tv which makes me happy!

Pretty boring update, I know! More soon, I promise!!

Flying Through the Air with the Greatest of Ease!

Tonight I tried aerial yoga at Lewisburg Yoga Studio.  It was one of the most fun things I’ve ever done!  For those of you who don’t know what aerial yoga is:

http://www.lewisburgyoga.com/

It uses the same hammocks as Cirque de Solei…and you feel like you’re flying!  On top of that, it was a great workout.  I know I sound like a commercial…but it really did make me happy and de-stressed me!  I will definitely be doing this again…hopefully next week!

I Made It! …Well Sort-of!

Easter is almost over, and I got through the weekend without losing self control when it comes to food.  I had a few Reeses Eggs and some black jelly beans (yum), but I didn’t go crazy.  My self control was put to the test tonight at dinner, though.  I went to Country Cupboard in Lewisburg with my friend Sara.  We had a “friends Easter” because both of our families live far away.  We figured CC was a good “Easter-y” type place to go for dinner…and then came the buffet.

For those of you who know me personally…you know how OCD I can be.  I’m not really a fan of buffets for two reasons:  1.  I’m a germophobe and you never know who touches what at a buffet.  2.  I absolutely cannot control myself.  I EAT EVERYTHING AT BUFFETS!

I’m proud to say I did not get the buffet tonight even though Sara did.  I got a cheeseburger and fries, which of course is not healthy…but I ate a lot less than I would have had I gotten the buffet.  So I consider that a (small) victory!  🙂

A “Weighty” Issue

I may switch the focus of this blog to a topic that has “weighed” heavily on my mind for years:  weight/fitness/diet.

When I was in high school I played competitive tennis so I worked out a LOT…as in running several miles a day.  I could eat what ever I want and not gain an ounce…but it’s not like that anymore.  My weight was consistent in high school, and from there, over the years I gained about 50 pounds.  50 POUNDS!!!!

In June of 2010 I decided to do something about it and joined Weight Watchers.  Nothing has ever worked for me like WW.  I became a lifetime member.  I lost almost 30 pounds and kept it off for about a year.  THEN I got a new job and slowly the weight piled back on.  Last September I was back to my heaviest weight…and I felt awful…so I rejoined WW in early October.

Since October it has been a daily struggle.  Since I’m on television, people notice EVERYTHING.  I’ve actually gotten Facebook messages saying I need to lose weight.  “You are on tv–you should be more conscious of the way you look”.  Awful words that I would never even dream of saying to someone.

Soooooo since October I am proud to say I lost 18 pounds.  I have 7 more to go, and I’m having a tough time.  I’m addicted to McDonald’s, Reese’s PB Eggs and all kinds of junk food.  Like I said, it’s a daily struggle…but it’s a struggle that is worth it in the long run.  I already feel much healthier…I REALLY hope I can keep the weight off this time…

PROJECT RUNWAY 10–SPOILER ALERT!!

****CAUTION–IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW WHO WON PROJECT RUNWAY SEASON 10, STOP RIGHT NOW!!****

Okay, here goes…I have watched Project Runway for forever it seems…I think I started tuning in during season 4…but I’ve seen all of the seasons on repeat.  It is one of my favorite shows…and for some reason I enjoy watching PR on DVR.  I like knowing that I’m going to find out what happens right away instead of waiting until the next week!

I think season 10 was a good one.  I enjoyed most of the designers, and I liked how their personalities meshed.  I watched season 10 in the time-frame of two weeks.  At first, I was 100%, all about #TeamVen    I thought Ven was the end-all-be-all, and I seriously thought he would win.  His designs are amazing…BUT BUT BUT…how horrible was he during the “make-over my friend challenge”????  I can’t believe how rude Ven was…and it kind-of made me lose most of my respect towards him.  And I think he went down hill after that.

I didn’t see Dimitry winning…until I watched the finale.  As I said before, I was rooting for Ven for most of the season…after that it was Christopher (and I really enjoyed the Christopher/Gunner) banter) I liked how Dimitry and Elena were Project Runway’s version of Boris and Natasha!  It made me crack up a few times!

I was very excited to watch the finale with a non-biased point of view.  Unfortunately, I saw a spoiler on facebook.  I knew Dimitry won before I watched the finale (and I was SO CAREFUL to make sure that didn’t happen).  But even so, Dimitry was the clear winner if you were basing the winner off of the finale…his collection was clearly the best.  While I was watching this episode, I saw a preview for “PR Allstars 2″…and I noticed it was scheduled to record on my DVR this Thursday–what a pleasant surprise!  I can’t wait to find out who is on this special edition…I am ready for more fashions!!

**OH–by the way…I want to hang out with Tim Gunn!!!!

Until next time…nik

Let’s Try This Blog Thing…

I’ve been thinking about writing a blog for a few weeks now…and recently my good friend Michelle started one, which inspired me to actually do it!  So whoever is reading this…welcome to my blog!

The focus of this blog will probably be television…I’m not ashamed of the fact that I watch more tv than a lot of people I know!  I am obsessed with several tv shows, and a lot of them may or may not be trashy reality shows!  (I can’t help it…they are my guilty pleasure!)  If you are reading this you probably know that I am a news reporter for WNEP-TV (ABC affiliate in NEPA) so YES, I watch the news religiously!!

Some of my favorite shows are Grey’s Anatomy (yes, I’m still hanging on to that show!) How I Met Your Mother, LAW AND ORDER SVU, The Amazing Race, Private Practice, The Voice…and many more, as you will find out soon 🙂

I also plan on writing about things that are not television related.  Things/events going on in my life.  So thank you for taking this journey with me…I hope you enjoy reading my blog, and I am excited to write it!  🙂
